Wrap up your 2017 with this special Christmas block of Yoga classes. Inspired by the need to stop, unwind and alleviate stress, these four classes will give you the space to do just that.
While everyone and everything seems to be spinning madly at this time of year, honour yourself and your body by taking time out for conscious rest and rejuvenation.
Not only will you relax and prepare for this busy time of year, but you will also have the opportunity to reflect on 2017 and all your achievements and your challenges.
Each class in this block has been specially planned and sequenced to give an overall experience. There are four different styles of yoga over four evenings, meaning there really is something for everyone.
Monday 11th - Signature Vinyasa class This Christmas block starts off with a BANG, with a Vinyasa class, the signature style we all LOVE. Move mindfully through Sun Salutes to build heat and connect with your body. Then harness all the energy, good and bad, from your experiences of 2017 and flow through Warrior sequences. Virabhdrasana 1 and 2 (Warrior 1 & 2) will be the heroes of our standing asana (poses). Strong poses, dynamic flow, beautiful transitions combined with conscious breathing, will help you find courage to embrace your own personal learnings from this year, so you can move forward in a new light.
Wednesday 13th - Slow Flow & Yoga Nidra We’ll take things down a notch in the second session. The first half of this class is Slow Flow, a sweet meditative class taken at a much slower pace. With a focus on alignment, slower transitions and mindful movements you’ll find a deeper connection.
In the second half of the class we will be immersed in Yoga Nidra. This ancient relaxation technique is a process of turning our awareness from being external (busyness, noise, thoughts) to being internal (calm, peace, devoid of distraction). This relaxation is guided and uses verbal cues to assist with keeping you focussed, and to reduce the tendency to fall asleep. Yoga Nidra helps you to release tension in the mind and the body, allowing you to access a deep inner peace.
Monday 18th - Christmas Flow The third session will be a FUN, Vinyasa style class, with poses that replicate iconic Christmas symbols. Sequenced to upbeat Christmas music (think Buble` and Mariah), this flow will provide you with the energy you need to get through this busy week. Combine that with some long holds and Pranayama (breath work) and you have the makings for a calm, clear headed yogi.
Wednesday 20th - Restorative Yoga And finally to finish, immerse yourself in a restorative yoga class. A floor based sequence, where you are fully supported by blankets, blocks, & bolsters, to maximise your comfort. These gentle poses with long holds allow you to fully let go and find a deep relaxation in body and mind. Benefits of Restorative Yoga: * reduce stress by decreasing the stress hormone, cortisol * improve wellbeing * sleep better * balances the nervous system * greater clarity
